As a wedding videographer, my goal is to capture every beautiful moment of a couple's special day in the most cinematic and memorable way possible. A well-thought-out camera setup is crucial to achieving this, especially during the ceremony. Here's a detailed layout that shows how I set up my cameras to ensure the best possible coverage of your ceremony.

Camera Placement on Either Side of the Aisle
One of my key strategies is to place cameras on either side of the aisle. This allows me to capture the bride's and groom's reactions throughout the ceremony. This setup ensures that I don’t miss a single heartfelt glance or tearful smile. Center Aisle Camera
In addition to the side cameras, I station another camera in the center aisle. This central vantage point is perfect for capturing the procession down the aisle, and the couple standing at the altar. This camera serves as the main shot for key moments, providing a clear and unobstructed view of the ceremony.
Creating a Seamless Edit
Having multiple camera angles is not only about capturing different perspectives but also about creating a seamless and dynamic final edit. During the editing process, I can cut between these angles to highlight the most significant moments and emotions. For example, I can switch from a wide shot of the couple from the center of the aisle to a view from the groom's perspective as his bride tearfully shares her wedding vows. This approach adds depth and richness to the final ceremony video, making it more engaging and heartfelt. Providing RAW Footage
In addition to the edited video, I also provide the RAW footage from each camera. RAW footage refers to the unedited, original video files captured during the ceremony. This footage is not polished and does not include any cuts, transitions, or color corrections. It offers a complete, unfiltered view of the entire ceremony from each camera angle. Please keep in mind that the RAW footage may also include adjustments made during filming. For instance, I may need to reposition the tripod or adjust the lighting to ensure the best possible shot. This can involve zooming in or out, or even instances where the photographer or videographer crosses in front of the camera. These adjustments are a normal part of the filming process to ensure that the final scene is perfectly set.
This is where the edited ceremony video becomes invaluable. During the editing process, I can seamlessly cut to another camera angle when these adjustments are being made. This ensures that the final video is polished, smooth, and free of any interruptions, providing a professional and enjoyable viewing experience.
Ensuring High-Quality Audio
While the visual aspect is crucial, high-quality audio is equally important. To ensure crystal-clear sound, I mic the groom with a wireless microphone and record the ceremony in its entirety. This captures the vows, speeches, and any other spoken moments with clarity and precision, adding to the emotional impact of the video. Covering Speeches During the Reception
When it comes to covering speeches during the reception, I use a 2-point camera system. One camera is pointed at the bride and groom to capture their reactions, while the other is focused on the person giving the speech. This setup allows me to capture both perspectives and ensure that no moment is missed.
As with the ceremony, I provide the RAW footage from each camera, so you have the unedited, original files. However, I also create an edited video that cuts between the two camera angles, offering a more polished and engaging viewing experience. This approach highlights the interactions and emotions between the speakers and the couple, creating a memorable and heartfelt video.

The Final Product
After meticulously capturing the ceremony from these carefully planned angles, I combine the footage to create a highlight video and a full ceremony video. The highlight video showcases the best moments, while the full ceremony video provides a complete, polished viewing experience, allowing the couple to relive their special day from every angle.
My camera setup for wedding ceremonies is designed to capture every detail and emotion in the most beautiful and cinematic way possible. By placing cameras on either side of the aisle and in the center aisle, and ensuring high-quality audio, I create a comprehensive and memorable video that the couple can cherish for a lifetime.
