As a Utah wedding photographer, I shoot a lot of wedding ceremonies, but I also shoot a lot of LDS temple weddings! And while all weddings are exciting and memorable in their own way, there is something about a temple wedding exit that takes the proverbial wedding cake!
After the exit, we will walk to our group portrait location, which varies from temple to temple. Some temples are busier than others and occasionally, we might have to wait our turn to use an area, while another wedding party finishes up. Once we get settled, we will take a formal picture of the whole group and also some fun group pictures.
After finishing with the large group pictures, we’ll break it down and get individual family pictures, sibling pictures and pictures of our bride and groom with their parents and grandparents.
The last group pictures that we take at the temple are the pictures with the bridal party. We’ll do a few different pictures of the groomsmen, bridesmaids, and both sets together. I love meeting the members of my couple’s bridal parties because they are some of the most important people in my couple’s lives and they are always equally as awesome!
Next are the Bride and Groom pictures, also known as the wedding formals which in my opinion, are the most important pictures of the day. These are the first individual pictures of the couple as husband and wife. It’s also a nice break for the bride and groom from all the stress and hustle and bustle. I like to go around to different spots on the temple grounds for about an hour to capture some of the couple’s joy from their wedding day.
As a wedding photographer, I love capturing all of the excitement and joy from a couple’s wedding day. I love getting to know the people that mean the most to the bride and groom. Years from now, my greatest hope is that my couples will be able to look back on the photos that I took and feel the raw emotion that was captured that day and perhaps, if only for a few minutes, transport back to that special day and relive it once again.
