Bridal sessions are among my favorite photography subjects! Here are some tips to prepare for your bridal session: It's the perfect opportunity to don your dream dress! You can also do a trial run of your hair and makeup, along with your bouquet. The best part? You get to wear your dress not just once, but twice! Wedding days can pass in a blur, but bridal sessions provide ample time for you to have portraits taken of yourself!
Many brides choose to have their bridal sessions at their selected venue. Since weddings typically occur on weekends, venues often schedule these sessions during weekdays. I enjoy conducting these sessions as they offer the bride, accompanied by her mother and maid of honor, an hour to an hour and a half of tranquil time. This experience allows the bride to fully envision herself in her bridal role, complete with makeup, flowers, and all the details that bring her dream dress to life.
Tips For Your Bridal Session
Booking a bridal session with your wedding photographer should ideally be done 1.5 to 2 months prior to your wedding date. This schedule ensures you have ample time for any necessary dress alterations. Make sure to arrive early at your chosen venue or location, allowing enough time to don your wedding dress. It's advisable to clean your engagement ring, have your bouquet ready for photographs, along with your jewelry and shoes. Some couples opt to bring a clean white sheet to place under the dress, keeping it free from dirt. Remember to pack a change of clothes so you can carefully store your wedding dress on its hanger and in its bag afterwards.
For your bridal session, I recommend bringing along your mother or a close relative, as well as another person dear to you. Their presence will contribute to the smooth flow of the session, and their assistance will allow you to fully embrace this special time before your wedding day.
